In general the painter works with positive painting,
which means adding a shape or color streaks one over the other. Conversely negative painting originally came from
painting techniques developed in watercolor, in watercolor technique the
negative painting is made using the white color of paper which part is not painted or made blank space,
in other words preserve the white of the paper in order to paint the negative
shape of the object.
Negative painting
technique is an alternative way of
painting the subject to form a negative space object resembling a painted white
(white sculpted).
The positive and
negative techniques can be combined to offer more choices and possibilities.
Indeed, the positive and negative shapes can be used together to create depth
and contour. This will improve the beauty look of the painting. The painting
process is fun and simple: leave blank
space in the central motif to form a negative image and paint all around it to
darken the surroundings.
The negative painting in digital painting
techniques are very easy to do, that is by first creating a black image or
silhouette on top of a drawing or picture, and then change the color of the
black silhouette into white, and do making perfection of the image by adjusting the color gradient.
